The group of employers work collaboratively to support young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, ensuring every young person has access to high-quality experiences with employers and understands the opportunities available to them.

By working with cornerstone employers, we're providing young people with opportunities to develop their skills, experiences of the workplace and awareness of career pathways here in West Yorkshire.

The role of a cornerstone employer

Cornerstone employers provide strategic support to our careers hub, and invest significant resources to work with schools and colleges within West Yorkshire. The cornerstone employer group are committed to: 

  • Ensuring employer interaction with young people is meaningful 
  • Collaborating to provide impactful experiences at scale across West Yorkshire 
  • Acting as an ambassador and champion for social mobility, to support those who face the most barriers, to reaching their potential when they leave education  
  • Ensuring SMEs have a platform to engage with schools and colleges with continual development through the national Employer Standards framework
