Employer Led Student Mentoring and Employer Support Programme
The schools partnership team were successful in securing funding from the Careers and Enterprise company (CEC) to run an Apprenticeships and Technical Education project during this academic year.
The team have decided to run an employer-led student mentoring and parental support programme
The aim of the project is to increase knowledge and understanding of Apprenticeship and Technical Education (ATE) pathways and application processes for students.
Students will receive group mentoring from an employer, aiming to increase knowledge and give experience of apprenticeship opportunities and the application process from within their business. The employer will speak to students within school / college, will introduce them to other apprentices and will help to coordinate a visit to the employers premises. Whilst at the employers premises they will undertake an enterprise activity and will have the opportunity to showcase their project to their parents / carers (who will also visit the premises)
Employers will be available for at least one transition evening at the school / college, and will provide bespoke information to help parents understand all routes available and be excited by ATE options.
We are pleased to announce that Amazing Apprenticeships have been awarded the contract to train the employers, provide bespoke resources and evaluate this pilot project. The training will be face to face and will be held at our head office on wellington street, we provisionally have the date of Friday 3rd March. The training aims to upskill and prepare employers to engage with and mentor a cohort of a minimum of 7 young people and also to, increase their knowledge of Apprenticeship and Technical Education (ATE) routes as well as the application process into them.

Archie Prendergast a student who has benefited from an apprenticeship and is now a supply chain apprentice for Nufarm UK, Bradford said:
"I am an apprentice in the Customer Services Team at Nufarm Wyke, and am working towards the supply chain apprenticeship standard. What I enjoy most about my role is the interaction and communication with different customers from around the world. I picked an apprenticeship as it allowed me to learn in a practical way while also having the benefit of work experience. I get lots of support from my manager and team and would recommend an apprenticeship to start your career in a positive way."
