Overview/summary of training
Roles and responsibilities
- Describe the nature of the sector of industry and their roles and responsibilities as a plant operator
Preparing the machine for works:
- Name and explain the principle components, the basic construction of the machine and controls and terminology
- Conform with manufacturers requirements as per the operators manual, other types of information and regulations and legislation
- Complete pre-use and running checks
- Understanding Lift Charts/Plans
Travelling and manoeuvring the machine:
- Configure and set the machine
- Travel over varying terrain
- Manoeuvre in confined areas
Setting up for work:
- Configure and set for excavating duties
- Explain actions for hazards, underground and overhead services
Working tasks:
- Excavate different types of excavations in various types of ground
- Place materials into transporting vehicles
- Grade, spread and level ground and materials
- Attach and remove buckets
- Lift, travel, move and place slung loads
Shutting down:
- Carry out shut down and securing procedures
- Explain loading and unloading procedures for machine transporting
On completion and achievement of the 10 day training, you will gain either a CPCS or NPORS trained operator card.

Excavator 360 operators potential earning are higher than those of labourers as by their nature they involve supervision of tasks and other team members.
