Preparing the workforce for the transition to a net-zero economy, this programme explores how employers can adapt to a net zero economy in the UK and ensure you are reskilled to do a ‘green job’. Ideal for Individuals, Team Leaders, and Employees, looking to upskill a key manager or employee to become an In House Champion.

Overview/summary of training

The programme is delivered using a blended approach that includes live zoom sessions, 1-2-1 coaching and home study. The majority of the programme consists of face to face live group and 1 2 1 sessions meaning that there is a lot of personalised support and advice.

The duration is 6 -8 weeks and includes a range of opportunities. The programme will train you to attain the status of ‘Green Ambassador’, and in the main, will address unnecessary wastage of materials within Industry and organisations. You will also be given other skills sets that gives a greater understanding of Environmental issues in general, which include project management, personal leadership and development.

The programme is designed to encourage a new generation of Sustainability Champions. You will be undertaking a wealth of activities and be given access to resources to get informed on topical environmental issues, take action within their organisations, and encourage others to do the same.

Following from this, you have the opportunity to progress to Green Skills Accredited - LEVEL 3 CERTIFICATE IN CHAMPIONING SUSTAINABILITY IN THE WORKPLACE for an additional cost     R 610/0143/0 with our Awarding Body NCFE.

Diversity and Inclusion – Although the programme will be open to any eligible individual – we will aim to attract diverse candidates. Business as usual is no longer sufficient or acceptable – businesses are missing out on untapped talent.

You will be introduced to the Green Skills Sector with a mix of live workshops and webinars, covering insights into sustainable practices such as energy and water usage savings and waste reduction. You will also gain an understanding around the language and principles of the climate emergency, net zero and carbon footprint.

Content is focussed on commercial properties and premises but could be relatable to domestic buildings.

  • Energy saving initiatives – retrofit - insulation – appliance efficiency
  • Benefits of retrofit - issues around older properties/commercial buildings
  • Waste reduction – identifying waste - audit of current waste
  • Recycling options
  • Water usage and reduction strategies
  • Energy reduction strategies
  • Developing a sustainability plan– implementation measures ‘toolkit’
  • Specialist advice or service directory - signposting
  • Progression routes.

Sector based specialists support the programme, to inspire and motivate you about the opportunities to progress within or to great careers. This involves live online Q & A sessions to find out more about the areas of opportunity and how to pursue them.

The Champion / Adviser will be given a ‘toolkit’ of practical measures that can be implemented at a commercial and potentially, a domestic level, plus the knowledge to identify and potentially, procure specialist advice and services.

You will be required to complete, relevant to your area of work you are in or interested in, a ‘real time’ project based on

  • Your organisational remit, which would include the preparation of sustainable / green action plans / reports and proposals to present to senior leaders.
  • A Net Zero Audit for your employer or for those who are unemployed an Audit for one of our Employer Partners. There is the opportunity to present this to an audience of employers and your learning group/tutors as a requirement of the qualification, if they are taking that.

The Champion / Adviser may also feed into bids for work or funding grants that require evidence of environmental or green credentials. For example, the CA Business Growth Programme.
